Diagnosing the skin type is a simple process which is carried out as follows:
Wash the skin of your face with facial soap for gentle cleansing.
Wait about 30 minutes after washing to let the skin return to its natural level of oiliness.
Examine the skin in front of a mirror in a well-lit room.
Match the type of your skin to one of the following five criteria:
Normal skin – Fair and has an even tone. This type of skin is soft and flexible to the touch, not greasy or tight.
After cleaning it feels relaxed, fresh and clean, even in the middle of the day. Pimples will appear only rarely, especially before menstruation.
Dry skin – This skin type constantly loses moisture for various reasons, both in summer and winter. Dry skin looks older, has a grayish tone, and the texture is rough and uneven. After cleaning, there is a feeling of tension and even itching. Sensitivities and redness will often develop. Tends to wrinkle easily and the signs of dryness appear on the sides of the eyes and around the mouth.
Discovering the cause of the formation of dry skin is an important step to improving the condition of the skin:
– Improper use of cosmetic products
– Use of cleaning products that are not suitable for the skin type
– Thyroid problems
– Skin aging
– Genetic predisposition
Oily skin has an oily sheen, a thick outer skin layer (epidermis) and enlarged pores. In the afternoon, the skin feels oily, the make-up “runs”, and shine appears all over the face. The skin tends to suffer from frequent outbreaks of pimples and also suffers from multiple blackheads.
Diagnosing the cause of increased secretion of fat will help to reach a normal skin condition with the help of proper care:
– Frequent cleaning with cosmetic products that contain ingredients that irritate the skin
– Hyperactivity of the sebaceous gland
– Tension
– Hormonal deficiency
– Genetic predisposition
Mixed skin is oily in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dry in the cheek area. There is a tendency for the formation of acne and comedones in the oily areas. Shine and oiliness appear in the afternoon, accompanied by a feeling of skin discomfort.
One of the common reasons for the formation of mixed skin is the incorrect use of cosmetic products such as Frequent cleansing with products containing alcohol that irritate the skin, encourage increased formation of fat in the center of the face and dryness in other areas.
Sensitive skin looks and behaves like normal skin until it comes into contact with care products, when it develops a tingling, itching and tension sensation. It is often reddish, looks lifeless and dull and tends to crease easily. The causes of skin sensitivity are due to genetics, the use of harsh substances or a combination of several ingredients together. Skin can also become sensitive during a certain period of time (pregnancy, acute diet) and with the help of proper treatment and care it can reach a balanced and normal state.
